Community Engagement: Kids in the Park at Belknap Mills

Lakes Region Search and Rescue was proud to partner with the Belknap Mill's Kids in the Park summer program to help teach the next generation of safe, responsible hikers.

This is our 4th year at this which has become a tradition thanks to the dedication of Kim Lesnewski, whose passion for outdoor education and community outreach has made this program a summer highlight. At this event children learn how to enjoy New Hampshire's outdoors safely while practicing Leave No Trace principles and gaining a better understanding of the role Search and Rescue plays in our state. The kids asked terrific questions, learned valuable outdoor safety skills, and got hands on with one of our rescue litters.

A special thank you as well to NH Fish and Game Conservation Officer Joe Canfield for joining us once again and sharing his expertise, and to the many LRSAR volunteers who donated their time to make today's program such a success.

Community education is one of the best ways to help prevent emergencies before they happen, and we're grateful for every opportunity to share our knowledge with local families.
