Training: NH Statewide SAR training - Class III Terrain / Belays
September 12th — LRSAR at NH Statewide SAR Training - Class 3 Rope Session
In locations where a dropped litter could dangerously slide away, we set a rope belay. The line is kept taut enough to quickly stop the litter if needed. The rope is not otherwise relied upon to support the load. Clearly defined communication e.g. “off belay!” ensure effective teamwork.
Training on these technical skills ensures our team has them available when they’re needed. This type of rope work was also used during parts of the rescue down the Old Bridle Path later that same day.
