Rescue April 20

This past weekend 12 members of LRSAR along with one Fish & Game Conservation Officer and two good samaritans, made quick and professional work of this litter carry.

Our team hiked 3.1 miles up the trail carrying full SAR gear and a litter, including navigating a water crossing. After reaching the patient, the team packaged and secured her for transport and began the carry out, returning to the trailhead and transferring care shortly after dark, around 8:00 PM.

The litter is equipped with a single large wheel that can be deployed when trail conditions allow. In this case, it was used for approximately the final two miles. Even with the wheel, pace is always dictated by safety considerations and the patient’s condition.

A big thank you to our SAR members, New Hampshire Fish & Game, the assisting good Samaritans, and the Boy Scout troop who provided effective Wilderness First Aid prior to our arrival.
